How to Spot Proxy Pokemon Cards
BeatingDebit路7 months agoRemember, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Real rare Pokemon cards ain't cheap. So, when someone's selling a 'rare' card for pennies, alarm bells should start ringing. Also, get yourself a loupe or use your phone's zoom to check the printing quality. Real cards have sharp, clear text and images, not blurry or smudged.

Always check the card texture! Real Pokemon cards have a distinct feel to them, kinda like a smooth yet firm matte finish. Proxies often miss this detail, feeling too glossy or too stiff. Also, the color saturation is a dead giveaway; genuine cards have vibrant, consistent colors, while fakes look washed out or too dark.
It's all in the light test, folks. Shine a light through the card; if it's real, the light will diffuse evenly because of the card's special layering. Proxies don't have this - the light passes right through or not at all.
One word: Holograms. Genuine Pokemon cards have holographic features that fake cards can't replicate accurately. The holo patterns on a real card are precise and detailed; on fakes, they're often dull or incorrect.
I've bought thousands of cards and honestly, if you're not entering official tournaments or something, does it even matter? Just enjoy the game.
