You can turn off challenges in Words with Friends by going into the game settings and toggling off the 'Allow Challenges' option. Easy peasy!

I used to get annoyed by constant challenges too! Go to the game settings in Words with Friends and switch off the 'Allow Challenges' option. It's been blissfully quiet for me since then.
