I went through this last week; all you need is some compressed air and isopropyl alcohol. Spray around the base of the analog sticks, then gently clean it with a cotton swab dipped in the alcohol. Trust me, it works like a charm!
Just buy a new controller. They're not that expensive, and it'll save you tons of hassle.
Before you toss it out, you can also try updating the controller's firmware. Sometimes a software update fixes these drift issues.
