How to Stop Lag in Terraria
Had the same issue, and what worked for me was updating my graphics card drivers and making sure Terraria was allowed through my firewall. It's like the game was struggling to communicate efficiently before that. Also, playing on servers closer to my location helped reduce lag big time when playing multiplayer.
