How to stop Steam from opening on startup on Mac
WanderingFacet路7 months agoIf you're looking to keep Steam from gatecrashing your Mac's startup party, it's actually pretty simple. First, open the Steam app. Then, click on 'Steam' in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select 'Settings' from the dropdown. After that, head over to the 'Interface' tab. You'll see a checkbox that says 'Run Steam when my computer starts.' Just uncheck that bad boy and hit 'OK.' Voila, Steam will now mind its manners and wait for your invitation before popping up.

Honestly, just open Steam, go to Preferences > Interface and uncheck 'Run Steam when my computer starts.' Hit 'OK' and you're good to go. No need to make it rocket science!
Going through settings sounds like a hassle. I just remove it from the Login Items under System Preferences > Users & Groups. Quicker and does the trick.
I tried letting it run; thought it'd be convenient. Nope, slows down my startup. Quick settings tweak and problem solved. I recommend adjusting the settings over removing it from Login Items for a smoother experience.
