How to stop Steam from running in the background
SawingBully路7 months agoHonestly, just let it run. Steam updates games and itself in the background, which is super convenient. Plus, it's not like it's eating a ton of resources.

Easiest way is to open up Steam, head to the top left where it says 'Steam' in the menu, click that bad boy and then go down to 'Exit'. This will close Steam completely and stop it from running in the background. If you want to keep it from opening on startup, go to 'Settings', then 'Interface', and uncheck 'Run Steam when my computer starts'. Boom, done!
Just right-click the Steam icon in your system tray and select 'Exit'. If it keeps popping up when you turn on your computer, you gotta disable it from startup via your Task Manager. Hit 'Ctrl+Shift+Esc', go to the 'Startup' tab, find Steam, and click 'Disable'. Easy peasy.
Task Manager is your friend. Ctrl+Shift+Esc, find Steam under 'Processes', and hit 'End Task'. Just remember, you have to do it every time you restart your PC if you don鈥檛 disable it from startup.
