Sometimes mods can cause instability. Try disabling any mods and see if the game runs better. If it does, re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.

Had the same problem! First, make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Also, try running the game in windowed mode. If all else fails, verify the game files on Steam — it usually does the trick!
