Honestly, just buy a Bug Net and camp out in the Hallow from dusk till midnight. Snag a Prismatic Lacewing and then, boom, release it under the sun. Ready your weapons first, though; she doesn't play nice.
Summoning the Empress of Light is pretty epic! You've got to catch a Prismatic Lacewing. These fancy butterflies only show up in the Hallow biome between 7:30 PM and midnight (Terraria time, of course). Be gentle though! Catch one with a Bug Net but make sure you only release and whack it during the day if you're ready for a real boss fight. She's a daylight-only boss, meaning if you summon her at night, nothing will happen. Get your gear ready, 'cause she's tough but totally worth the battle for her drops!
You guys are making it too complicated. Grab a Lacewing. Let it go when the sun's up. Fight. Win or lose. Simple as that.
