How to Switch Off Comments on Facebook
Unfortunately, as of now, Facebook doesn't allow you to completely turn off comments for personal posts. But you can change the privacy settings to limit who can comment. Go to the post, click on the three dots, choose 'Who can comment on your post?' and select an option.

I tried to switch off comments before – couldn't find the option. Best workaround is adjusting the post audience settings.
You can't fully disable comments, but you can restrict them! Just edit your post privacy settings to 'Friends' or 'Friends except...' and be selective about who gets to share their two cents.
