I play on Xbox, and all I do is tap Y to switch weapons. Hold it to bring up your sidearm. Works every time!

On console, hold Triangle (PS) or Y (Xbox) to switch to your secondary weapon. Just tap it to switch between primary and secondary. It's that simple!
