Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Console Settings' > 'System Info'. Make sure you're connected to the internet, then select 'Update Console'. Boom, updated!

Forget the internet. Just grab a game disc that contains a system update. Pop it in, and the console will guide you through it.

Just connect your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, and it should prompt you for an update automatically. If not, go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Console Settings' > 'System Info' and get the update from there.

I once did it by downloading the update on a USB flash drive from the Xbox website. Then, plug it into your Xbox 360, power it on, and follow the onscreen instructions. Super easy!
