First, grab a Torx T8 or T9 screwdriver to remove the screws from the back of the controller. Don’t forget the hidden screw under the barcode sticker in the battery compartment!

Make sure you have a clean workspace and follow step-by-step guides on sites like iFixit. They have pictures and everything!

First, get a T8 or T9 Torx screwdriver. Unscrew the back screws and then carefully pry open the shell. Remember where everything goes!

Start by removing the battery cover and unscrew the screws with a Torx T8. Use a plastic pry tool to split the shell.

Careful! I've broken a few controllers trying to take them apart. Unless you're super confident, it might be better to leave it to the pros.

If you're a Xbox player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Xbox gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
