As someone who loves to tinker, I can tell you that you need to empty the lighter first. Then, use a small tool to lift off the metal cap and disassemble the internals. Piece of cake!
Just throw it out and buy a new one. It's not worth the hassle, trust me.
Empty the fuel first! Then gently use a screwdriver to take off the metal cover, remove the flint and housing, and you're set.
