How to Tell an Original Pokemon Card

First off, look at the card closely. Original Pokemon cards have a thin layer of black ink between the cardstock; if you carefully look at the edge of the card, you should see this if it's legit. Another key thing is the card text and coloration. Authentic cards have sharp, clear text and vibrant colors, while fakes often look faded or the text might be blurry. Don't forget to check the holographic foil for any cards that should have it. Real Pokemon cards have a smooth, high-quality holographic pattern, unlike the dull or uneven patterns found on fakes.

Real talk, just check the card's weight. Genuine Pokemon cards have a specific heft to them, thanks to the quality cardstock and ink. Fakes feel flimsy or too thick.

Always compare with a card you know is real. Seriously, nothing beats having a reference. If you're deep in the game, you'll start noticing the subtle differences that make a card stand out as the real deal or a cheap knock-off.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
