How to Tell Fake Japanese Pokemon Cards

The quickest way to spot a fake Japanese Pokemon card is by checking the texture and color. Real cards have a consistent color and a smooth texture. If it feels too glossy or the colors are off, it's probably a fake. Also, the text quality on a real card is always sharp and clear, so if the text looks blurry or smudged, that's a red flag.

Another solid tip is to look at the card's edges. Genuine Japanese Pokemon cards have very clean and even cuts. If the edges look rough or uneven, you might be holding a counterfeit. Plus, real cards have a slight layer of black within the cardstock, visible when you look at the side of the card. Fakes often miss this detail.

Honestly, just weigh them. I've found that fake cards sometimes feel lighter than the real deals. Not the most scientific method, but it's another trick to add to your arsenal!

I don't get why anyone would even bother with fakes. Just play the online version, way easier to tell what's real and what's not.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
