Honestly, it's all about the artwork and the feel. First gen cards have this unique vibe that you just know it's from the original set. Plus, the card stock feels different compared to the newer ones. Grew up with these, so believe me, you'll know it when you see it!
First gen Pokemon cards, ah, the nostalgia! Look for the base set symbol, which is simple and doesn鈥檛 have any set name or additional symbol beside it. Also, the year 1999 should be printed near the bottom. Another dead giveaway is the iconic thick, yellow border and the original 151 Pokemon. Can't miss 'em!
