Honestly, just flip the card over and look for the holo shine. If it shines, it's a go. No shine, no holo.

First off, ya gotta hold the card up to the light. If it's hollow, you'll see a shiny, reflective surface kinda like a disco ball. Also, the texture is a dead giveaway. Run your fingers over the card; if it feels slightly raised or bumpy, that's your holo card right there!

Biggest clue? The price tag. Holo cards tend to be more expensive than their non-holo counterparts because they're just cooler and more collectible. So if you're seeing dollar signs, it's probably holo.

Holo cards have a distinct shiny pattern on the Pokémon image or background, not just any shiny part. If the shiny part is on the Pokémon itself or has a special pattern, it's holo.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
