How to tell if an MTG card is from the Alpha edition
PracticingClock路7 months agoAlpha edition MTG cards have a couple of unique features. Look at the corners of the card; Alpha cards have distinctly rounded corners, more so than any other edition. Also, the Alpha edition didn't have a standardized card back, so sometimes the colors on the back can be a bit off compared to later editions. Plus, check the printing date if you can - Alpha was only printed in 1993!

The easiest way to spot an Alpha card is by the rounded corners. If it doesn't fit nicely into a card sleeve, it's probably an Alpha. Just be careful not to confuse them with Beta cards; those are slightly less rounded!
Honestly, unless you're a hardcore collector, distinguishing between Alpha and Beta editions can be pretty tricky. But yeah, the corners are your best bet.
If you're really into MTG, then knowing your Alpha from your Beta is key. Those rounded corners on the Alpha cards? A dead giveaway. And if the print looks a bit 'off,' like it's from another era, chances are, you've got an Alpha on your hands.
