Plug it in and look for the flashing red lights on the controller. Flashing = charging, solid = fully charged.

Just press the PS button on your controller. If you see a battery icon with some animation, it's charging!

Easy peasy: if the red lights on the top of the controller are blinking, it's charging. Solid red light means charge complete!

The PS3 controller is charging if the red LED lights start blinking. When they're solid, it means it's fully charged.
