A fresh copy will come in a sealed box with the Nintendo logo sticker intact, no scratches on the cartridge, and it should start up without a hitch.
Easy! Look for the shiny, shrink-wrapped packaging and make sure the cartridge (or digital file) is legit and uncorrupted.
If the packaging looks like it's been through a Turf War, it's probably not fresh!
Just buy from a reputable store or direct from Nintendo to avoid any freshness worries.
