How to tell what edition Pokemon cards are

Check the card's bottom right for a symbol. That's the set identifier. For first editions, look for the '1st Edition' stamp. No stamp, not first edition. Shadowless cards lack the shadow by the image box - they're collectors' gems!

Honestly, checking for the edition symbol is overrated. Just enjoy collecting without worrying too much about editions. The joy is in the journey, not just the rarities.

Super easy! Just look for the little symbol on the bottom right corner of the card. Each set has a unique symbol, like a little flame for the Charizard set. If it's a first edition, you'll see a '1st Edition' stamp on the left side below the picture. No stamp? Probably not a first edition then. But hey, there are also shadowless cards which are super cool and kinda rare - these don't have the shadow on the right side of the image box. Happy hunting!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
