Easiest way to test fly jets in War Thunder is to go to the Research tab, select the jet you want, and hit the 'Test Flight' button. Boom, you're in the air!
Just click on the plane you want to test in the tech tree, click 'Test Flight,' and you're good to go. Happy flying!
In my experience, the 'Test Flight' button in the research tree is your best friend. Just select your jet and get a feel for it before committing to any line!
