If you're using a PS5, just head to Settings > Sound > Volume > Controller Speaker and set it to zero.

You can mute your controller speaker directly by holding the PS button and adjusting the sound settings from the quick menu.

Go to your PS4 or PS5 settings > Devices > Controllers, then turn down the 'Volume Control (Speaker for Controller).'
