In the Facebook app, hit the menu icon, tap on 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings,' scroll to 'Media and Contacts,' and pick 'Autoplay' to turn it off!

I turned off autoplay by going to Settings & Privacy, tapping Settings, then Media and Contacts. Once there, I set Autoplay to 'Never Autoplay Videos'. Viola! No more surprise videos!

Easy peasy! Just go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media and Contacts > Autoplay, and set it to 'Never Autoplay Videos'.

Desktop: click the down arrow in the top-right corner, go to 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings,' and find 'Videos' in the left sidebar. Choose 'Off' under 'Auto-Play Videos'
