How to turn off message requests on Instagram
Just open your profile, tap the three lines in the top right corner, go to 'Settings' > 'Privacy' > 'Messages' and turn off 'Message Requests.' That's it!

You can't actually turn off message requests entirely, but you can manage who can message you by adjusting the settings in 'Privacy' > 'Messages'.
From your profile, go to 'Settings' > 'Privacy' > 'Messages.' Here you can manage your message request settings. Voila!
Go to your Instagram settings, hit 'Privacy,' then 'Messages,' and toggle off 'Allow Others to Add You to Groups' and 'Message Requests.' Easy peasy!
