You can also turn off recurring billing directly on your Xbox console. Go to 'Settings,' then 'Account,' then 'Subscriptions,' select the subscription, and turn off recurring billing.

I’ve done this a bunch of times. Go to the Microsoft account website, sign in, and under 'Services & subscriptions,' click 'Manage' next to the one you want to turn off. Easy peasy!
