How to turn off Steam overlay
UnifyingSlum路7 months agoHonestly, just turn it off. The overlay can be a distraction, and some games run smoother without it. Open Steam > Settings > In-Game and uncheck the 'Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game'. Simple as that.

I turned off the overlay for a smoother experience in some of my favorite games. Haven't missed it tbh. Makes things feel a bit more 'immersive' without pop-ups interrupting your game.
Trust me, keep it on. The overlay might seem annoying at first, but it's super useful for quick access to friends, screenshots, and web browsing without leaving your game. Minimal impact on performance in most cases.
It's easy! Just open your Steam client and click on 'Steam' in the upper left corner, then go to 'Settings'. Click on the 'In-Game' tab, and you'll see 'Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game' at the top. Just uncheck that box, and you're good to go. No more overlay popping up when you're trying to game in peace!
