Turning off text chat in Apex Legends is pretty simple! Just hit 'Esc' to bring up the game menu, go to 'Settings', then 'Gameplay', and scroll down until you see 'Incoming Text Chat'. You can toggle it off there. This way, you can focus on your game without distractions.

Just go to settings and turn it off lol. It's not rocket science.

I did this the other day cause the chat was getting too toxic for my taste. Super easy, just follow the settings path and you'll see the option to turn off text chat. Made my gaming experience 10 times better!
