How to Turn on CC on Roku
Alright, to turn on closed captions (CC) on your Roku, grab that remote and hit the Home button. Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Captions mode. Select 'On always' and voilà! You've got subtitles!

Just press the * (star) button on your remote while playing a video, go to 'Closed captioning', and turn it on. Simple!
From my experience: when you’re in the middle of streaming, hit the * button on the remote, go to 'Closed captioning' and choose 'On always'.
You don't need to leave your show to do this! While watching something, press the * button, navigate to 'Closed captioning', and turn it on.
