From personal experience, scanning amiibo figures directly into Super Mario Maker is quick and easy. You can also grind through the 100 Mario Challenge if you're up for it. It's a bit tougher but rewarding!
You can unlock all amiibo costumes by scanning the corresponding amiibo figures on your Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. If you don't have the physical figures, some costumes can also be unlocked by completing the 100 Mario Challenge on Expert mode. Happy costume hunting!
