In the original Super Mario Maker, elements unlock as you use the level editor over several days. For Super Mario Maker 2, most elements are available from the start!
For the 3DS version, hit the Super Mario Challenge mode hard. You'll unlock new course elements by completing worlds and getting medals. Challenge accepted!
