To unlock helicopters in War Thunder, you need to research and unlock the appropriate tier V vehicles in the nation tree first. Once you鈥檝e got those, the helicopter research tree will appear!
You gotta grind your way up to the top tiers (Tier V or higher). Once you get there, the helicopter research tree will open up for you!
I remember unlocking my first helicopter. It felt like forever, but the grind was totally worth it! Just focus on getting to tier V vehicles.
