You can’t actually unlock Master Hand as a playable character in Super Smash Bros N64, but with a nifty glitch, you can play as him! Just plug your controller into the third port, go to the character select screen, hover over your character, and hold down buttons like a mad scientist: L, R, and start. Boom! You're now Master Hand.
Done it myself: Controller in port 3, L+R+Start while selecting your character. It's glitchy but works!
Sorry, you can't officially unlock Master Hand in Super Smash Bros N64. Just stick to the glitch.
