You gotta grind through Road to the Show (RTTS) and keep leveling up your Ballplayer! The higher the Archetype, the more perk slots you get.

It's all about progression in RTTS. Focus on upgrading your Archetype and earning XP. More XP = more perks!

You can't rush it. Play Road to the Show and do those training sessions. Your Ballplayer will eventually unlock more slots.
