The fastest way to unlock characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Switch is through Classic Mode. Each time you complete a run, you'll face a new challenger!
IMO, the best way is to use the Challenger's Approach option in the Games & More menu if you lost a previous unlock battle. No need to stress about missing anyone!
Just play World of Light! Every time you rescue a fighter, they'll join your roster for good. Plus, it's a fun single-player mode!
