In Super Smash Bros Melee (GameCube), clear Classic Mode with any character on any difficulty without using a continue. Zelda will show up to challenge you. Defeat her, and she's yours!

For Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Switch), unlock Zelda by playing through Classic Mode with Kirby, with Zelda showing up as the 5th unlockable character in this chain. Alternatively, you can find her in the Adventure Mode, World of Light.

Pro tip: In Melee, beat Adventure Mode on Normal or higher without using a continue to unlock Zelda more stylishly!

Just use the unlock cheat for Melee: Enter Adventure Mode and clear it with Link. Zelda will appear as a challenger. Happy battling!
