Head to the XMB menu, select Settings, then System Update. You can choose to update via the Internet or a storage device.

Easy peasy, just go to Settings > System Update > Update via Internet. Let the PS3 do its magic!

Still playing on the PS3? Nice! Connect to the Internet, go to Settings, and then select System Update.
