If my mom can do it, you can too! Open the game and it'll update by itself if there's new stuff.
Just make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet, then start Splatoon 2. It should prompt you to update automatically if there's a new version.
Press the plus button on the game icon and update it via the internet. Simple as that!
Go to the game's icon on your Switch home screen, press the + button, then select 'Software Update' and 'Via the Internet'.
