How to Upgrade a PS3 HDD
First, back up your data. Then, you'll need a Phillips-head screwdriver and a compatible 2.5-inch SATA HDD. Remove the side panel, unscrew the blue screw, slide out the HDD tray, swap the old drive with the new one, and reverse the steps. Happy gaming!

Make sure to back up your data first! Then, just unscrew the blue screw, swap out the old drive for a new 2.5-inch SATA one, and screw it back together.
I've done this on my own PS3. Just back up your data first, unscrew the blue screw, slide out the tray, swap the drive, and put it all back. Easy peasy!
