To upgrade Science in Fallout 4, you'll need to level up your character first. Once you've racked up enough XP for a level up, head into your Pip-Boy and navigate to the Perks menu. Look for the Science perk under the Intelligence category. You'll need at least an Intelligence level of 6 to start unlocking it.
