You just need to collect resources like building materials and influence. Then, use them to upgrade facilities in your base. Don't forget to scout for new outposts!
Fine, but building bases isn't even that great. Just keep moving and looting. Stay light and mobile!
I've been playing State of Decay 2 forever. You gotta ensure you have enough building materials and influence before you start any upgrades. Then, in the base menu, look at each facility's upgrade options and use the resources. Also, make sure your survivors are well-equipped to deal with attacks while upgrades are happening!
