First, make sure you have a New 3DS or an NFC reader accessory for older models. Then, go to the amiibo menu in the game and follow the prompts to register and train your amiibo.
Just tap your amiibo onto the NFC reader of your New 3DS, and voila! Your amiibo joins the fight as a Figure Player (FP). You can train it, level it up, and battle alongside or against it!
