Plug in your controller (Xbox, PS, or generic USB), and the game should automatically detect it. You might need to adjust the key bindings in the game settings if it's acting funky.
Friday Night Funkin' doesn't have native controller support. Just stick to the keyboard like the designers intended.
Download JoyToKey or DS4Windows if you're on PC! These programs will let you map your controller buttons to the keyboard keys. It worked like a charm for me!
