First, download the skin template from War Thunder's user section. Open it in GIMP, then customize it however you like. Save it as a .dds file and place it in the dedicated skin folder of the vehicle you're modifying in War Thunder.

You gotta start by downloading the skin template from the War Thunder forums, then open that in GIMP. Edit it to your heart's content, save it as a .dds file, and throw it into the proper skin folder in your War Thunder directory. Bam, custom skin!

Just grab the vehicle template, edit it in GIMP, save as .dds, and put it in the right folder. Easy peasy!

I've made a ton of skins using GIMP! Make sure to download the skin template, open it in GIMP, edit it with layers if you want, and save in the .dds format. Don't forget to place it in the correct War Thunder folder for it to show up in-game.
