Sorry, but the PS3 doesn't support headphone use through the PS4 controller. You’ll need to connect headphones directly to the TV or use a Bluetooth headset compatible with the PS3.

You can't use the headphone jack on a PS4 controller when playing on a PS3. Best bet is to get a proper PS3 headset.

Tried doing this myself, but it won't work. Ended up getting a cheap Bluetooth headset for my PS3 and it solved all my problems!
