I use the jetpack all the time! Make sure it's equipped, then press space twice to get airborne. Hold the spacebar to keep flying.
You need to get the jetpack first. Once you have it, hit the spacebar twice to activate it and hold to fly.
Honestly, you just double-tap the spacebar if you have the jetpack equipped. Simple as that.
