So, the transfuser is actually a bit of a ghost! It was planned but never fully implemented in the game. Sorry to say, you can't use it in the PS4 version of Subnautica.

I spent hours trying to figure that out too, but alas, it's not functional in the PS4 version. Just focus on surviving the ocean depths!
