I tried using an Xbox One controller on my iPhone for PUBG Mobile, but it didn't work. Touch controls are actually pretty intuitive after some practice.

Unfortunately, PUBG Mobile does not support Xbox One controllers on iPhone officially. You'll have to stick with touch controls for now.
