How to unlock Super Smash Bros characters

I unlocked mine by doing Classic Mode runs. Each run usually unlocks a new character, and it's a fun way to get through the roster!
Use the shortcut method in Ultimate! Set the rules to 1 stock battles, win them quickly, and reset the game after each new character to trick it into giving you more challengers faster.
Just keep playing Versus matches. Every 10 minutes, a new challenger appears! Beat 'em to add 'em to your roster.
Just buy the DLC packs. Skip the grind and get right to the action. Worth every penny.
