Honestly, it doesn't need to continue. It wrapped up well, and a sequel might just mess up the story.
One way to continue would be to follow the rebuilding of society and the challenges the characters face in a world without Klaxosaurs.
I'd bet on a spin-off focusing on side characters like Zorome and Miku. Their backstories have plenty of potential for more action and drama.
As a fan, I'd love to see Hiro and Zero Two's kids taking the lead in new adventures. Who wouldn't want more of that dynamic duo spirit?
